Aspar Team & MIR Racing Cup: The Future of MotoGP? (2025)

Young riders, aspiring to MotoGP glory, just got a major boost! Aspar Team, a well-known name in the racing world, is deepening its commitment to nurturing young talent by partnering with the MIR Racing Cup in Spain. This collaboration, now rebranded as the MIR Racing Aspar Cup, is designed to create a clearer path for aspiring racers.

This partnership also involves the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, the iconic home of the Valencian MotoGP, adding significant weight to the project. The MIR Racing Aspar Cup serves as a crucial stepping stone for young riders, offering various categories like Minimoto, Alevin 90, GP10, GP12, Moto5, and Promo3. The structure is carefully designed to allow riders to advance from Minimoto all the way to the Promo3 class, before potentially moving on to bigger competitions like the Moto4 in the ESBK series, held on full-size tracks.

Aspar's primary goal is to enhance the existing structure within MIR, ensuring a smooth transition for young riders. They will maintain the current scholarship system, helping to reduce the financial burden as riders move up through the categories.

But here's where it gets interesting: Aspar also plans to 'strengthen' MIR's 'talent identification and promotion program'. This means riders will be evaluated not just on their performance on the track, but also on their technical skills, physical fitness, and competitive attitude.

With Aspar already fielding teams in the European Talent Cup, JuniorGP, and the Moto3 and Moto2 World Championships, the pathway for successful MIR Racing Aspar Cup riders to reach the World Championship with Aspar is now more defined.

"Grassroots motorcycling is the heart of our sport," stated Jorge Martínez 'Aspar', CEO of the Aspar Team. "If we want to see new champions in the future, we must invest in their development from the ground." He further emphasized that the partnership with the MIR Racing Cup and the Circuit Ricardo Tormo shares a common vision: to create a practical and accessible route from minibikes to the World Championship. This collaboration will provide young riders with a structured, values-driven, and professional environment, preparing them for the highest levels of competition.

Daniel Antón, General Manager of the MIR Racing Cup, added: "Our goal has always been to offer real opportunities to riders. With this partnership, the dream of reaching MotoGP from the grassroots level is more alive than ever: this alliance with the Aspar Team and the Circuit Ricardo Tormo is the definitive step towards making that dream a reality. Together, we will build the largest grassroots motorcycle racing project in history, a platform that connects talent, training, and the future. We want every child who gets on a minibike to be able to imagine themselves one day on the MotoGP grid, and for that journey to be with us."

So, what do you think? Does this partnership provide a significant advantage for young riders? Do you agree that investing in grassroots racing is crucial for the future of the sport? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
